Fino Payments Bank September Business Update: Deposits Up 13 Percent Loan Referral Jumps 223 Percent

Every month, Fino Payments Bank Limited shares a snapshot of how its business is doing. The numbers for September 2026 are now out. The filing is dated October 7, 2026 and covers five business segments. The figures are provisional and unaudited.

The picture is mixed — some numbers are up sharply, one has fallen, and one has disappeared entirely compared to the same month last year. Here is what each segment shows.

Deposit Accounts: Growth in Income, Fewer New Accounts

The deposit accounts segment tells two different stories at once. The number of new accounts opened in September 2026 was 2,44,763 — that is 17% lower than the 2,94,846 accounts opened in September 2025. So fewer people signed up compared to the same month last year.

But the money side of deposits is growing. Renewal income — the income the bank earns when customers renew their deposits — came in at ₹28.0 crore, up 20% from ₹23.3 crore a year ago. Average total deposits stood at ₹2,794 crore, up 13% from ₹2,480 crore in September 2025.

The bank's CASA base — the combined number of Current Account and Savings Account holders — has grown to 1.91 crore. The filing mentions this as a highlight, though no year-ago figure for CASA is provided in the table.

On the digital side, digitally active customers reached 64.9 lakh, up 13% from 57.3 lakh. FinoPay active customers — those using the bank's own payments app — stood at 8.1 lakh, up 12% from 7.2 lakh.

Transaction Business: Throughput Down 10%

The transaction business segment covers the money that flows through the bank's network of banking correspondents and merchant points — cash deposits, withdrawals, remittances and similar transactions.

Throughput for September 2026 was ₹3,469 crore, compared to ₹3,866 crore in September 2025 — a drop of 10% year on year.

CMS: ₹6,918 Crore, Up 10%

CMS stands for Cash Management Services. This segment handles the collection and disbursement of cash for businesses — for example, collecting daily cash from retail chains or distributing cash to ATMs and payment points.

CMS throughput for September 2026 was ₹6,918 crore, up 10% from ₹6,281 crore in September 2025. The filing specifically mentions "sustained progress in the CMS segment" as one of the highlights of the month.

B2B UPI P2M: No Throughput This Month

This is the segment that shows the sharpest change. B2B UPI P2M refers to business-to-business UPI transactions of the Peer-to-Merchant type — payments made by businesses to merchants using UPI.

In September 2025, throughput in this segment was ₹961 crore. In September 2026, the figure shown in the table is a dash — meaning nil throughput for the month, against the ₹961 crore recorded a year ago. The filing does not explain the reason for this change.

Loan Referral: Disbursals Up 223%

The loan referral segment is the standout number of this filing. Fino Payments Bank, being a payments bank, cannot give loans directly — payments banks in India are not permitted to lend. But they can refer customers to other lenders and earn a fee for doing so.

Loan referral disbursals — the total value of loans disbursed by partner lenders through Fino's referrals — came in at ₹278 crore in September 2026. In September 2025, the figure was ₹86 crore. That is a jump of 223% year on year. The filing highlights this as a "surge in amount of referral loan disbursals."
