MOIL Limited has released its September 2026 operational update, and while one number has jumped sharply, the half-year trend tells a more balanced story.
The company shared provisional production and sales data for the month and for the year so far. At first glance September looks like a breakout month, but cumulative performance shows growth has been much more steady.
What Happened In September
This is where the spike comes in. MOIL produced 1.81 Lakh MT in September 2026, significantly higher than the same month last year. Sales also moved up to 1.64 Lakh MT for the month.
Compared to September 2025, when production was 1.52 Lakh MT and sales were 1.42 Lakh MT, this translates to a 19.1% jump in production and 15.5% jump in sales year-on-year.
For a mining company where monthly output can vary with season and demand, a near 19% monthly jump is notable.
H1 Numbers Change The Narrative
The real context comes when you look at the full six months.
Up to September in FY27, total production is 9.61 Lakh MT against 9.44 Lakh MT in the same period last year. That is growth of only 1.8% — which shows September was a catch-up month, not a record-breaking half year.
Sales on a cumulative basis are better at 7.78 Lakh MT versus 7.10 Lakh MT last year, up 9.5%, indicating dispatches have been stronger than mining growth.
MOIL has retained its full-year production target of 25.85 lakh tonnes. With 9.61 lakh tonnes achieved in H1, about 37% of the target is done, leaving the bigger share for H2.
About MOIL And Manganese
MOIL Limited is India's largest producer of manganese ore and operates mines across Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The company is a Schedule A Miniratna Category-I central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel.
Manganese ore is a key raw material in steel production, used primarily in the making of ferro-manganese and silico-manganese, which are added to steel to improve strength and hardness. MOIL also produces electrolytic manganese dioxide, used in dry cell batteries.
The company discloses provisional monthly production and sales data under Regulation 30 of SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements.
Conclusion
September 2026 was strong for MOIL with 1.81 Lakh MT production and 1.64 Lakh MT sales, but H1 FY27 is steady at 9.61 Lakh MT production, up 1.8%, and 7.78 Lakh MT sales, up 9.5%. To hit the 25.85 lakh tonne FY27 target, H2 will need to be stronger than H1.
